Representing the People
My name is Janette Evans and I am a Democratic and Working Families candidate for Alderwoman at Large in North Tonawanda. I have lived in North Tonawanda for about 15 years, but grew up just over the bridge on Raintree Island in Tonawanda, so I spent much of my childhood in the city.
Since moving here I have seen some slow growth in the city, but it has certainly not received the support that is needed to reach its full potential. Years of mismanaging funds have put North Tonawanda in a vulnerable position. This was pointed out in a recent audit, but rather than heed its advice those running the city dismissed this as politically motivated.

The more I read and listen to the citizens of North Tonawanda the more I see the frustration that is being experienced. We want to be able to ask the questions and get meaningful answers, not dismissals. We want to see that those representing you have a true and thorough understanding of where our tax dollars are going. We want to be able to actually see what is being spent and where.
I am one of you. I am not a politician by trade. I put my hard earned money in the hands that run this city, and I am unsure of what is being done with it. It would be much easier to stay on the sidelines and accept this, but I cannot do that. When I get into office I will be the voice for the citizens that have been silenced for years.
